When viewing an individual record (account, contact, opportunity, …), the new layout includes the Intelligence Pane on the right side of the screen to allow for record-level dashboards and previews.
The display area for information from the selected record has been shrunk to the new “business card view,” which highlights high-level information. This is the information that you want to see the majority of the time, so the smaller display area makes it easier to access subpanels and other data. Your administrator can configure which data fields are displayed in the business card view.
To see the rest of the information stored about the displayed record, click the Show More hyperlink at the bottom of the business card area. This will display the remaining fields below the business card area. Click the Show Less hyperlink to return to the minimized view. Although the “Show More” view does not support tabs in version 7.0, SugarCRM plans to re-implement the tabs/panels functionality available in version 6.x, beginning in version 7.2.
In both the business card and “Show More” views, you can now click to edit any field through the new inline editing capabilities. Hover over the field that you need to change so that the pencil icon appears, and then click the icon to make the field editable. Make your change and then click the Save button to submit it. When changing the value of a single field, this saves you a click over the steps required in versions 6.x. If you want to edit the value of multiple fields, it may continue to be more efficient to click the Edit button.
The subpanel area is displayed below the record information, and continues to display information from related modules. Each subpanel is marked with a header naming the module from which data is displayed, and the new colorful module icons are also displayed in this header area. These icons, color-coded boxes with a two-letter abbreviation for the module name, are used throughout the 7.x user interface. As you become familiar with the 7.x interface, and begin to link the module names with the colors used, this makes it easy to visually scan through information and quickly identify the color(s) that identify the information needed. Subpanels without any related data to display will have their icons grayed out.
The subpanels include functionality available in the new list view, including searching/filtering, inline editing, previewing in the intelligence pane, marking and identifying favorites, and clickable, sortable column headers. Subpanels also include a button labeled with a + (plus) icon to create a new, linked record in the selected module.
Activities and History subpanels are no longer available in 7.0; instead, this information is displayed in the intelligence pane area with new dashlets.
The subpanel area can also be switched to display the activity stream for the record using the toggle switch at the top of the subpanel area. This will show all of the activity stream posts linked to the record.
