Did you know that SugarCRM includes a Calendar module? For users who
organize their day by appointments and meetings, the SugarCRM Calendar
module can be very useful for keeping track of time commitments, while
users who organize their day around tasks may find dashboards to be more
useful.
This excerpt from our SugarCRM eBook for end users, Getting Started with SugarCRM Version 6.x, provides an introduction to many of the features of the SugarCRM Calendar.
Using Your SugarCRM Calendar
You can access your Calendar by clicking on the word Calendar on your navigation bar.
By default, a view of the current week will be loaded, showing all of the tasks, meetings, and phone calls that you have scheduled for the week.
You can change the length of time shown on the Calendar by clicking on the Day, Week, Month, and Year buttons in the upper left corner. Move forward or backward one period in time by using the Next and Previous links or arrows at the top and bottom of the calendar page. You can also jump to a specified date using the calendar icon in the upper right corner (next to settings). This is especially useful if you have navigated to a future or past date in your Calendar and would like to return to today’s entry.
The calendar is color-coded to help you distinguish between the types
of activities that are shown. The blue events on your calendar are
meetings that you have scheduled. The pink events on your calendar are
phone calls that you have scheduled. The green events on your calendar
are tasks that are due. While the blue meetings and pink phone calls
show the length of time which they will take, tasks are listed only by
their due date and time. A four-hour task and a one-hour task will
appear the same from the calendar view.
Phone calls and meetings can be selected and edited directly from the SugarCRM Calendar module. To update a record for a phone call or meeting, click on the event on your calendar. The record will load in a pop-up window. You can edit the date/time, update the status, and add details to the description of the event. Just click Save and the record will be updated. Updates will automatically be reflected on your Calendar.
You can also add a new meeting or phone call from the Calendar
module. To add a new meeting or phone call to your calendar, click on
the time slot when you would like the meeting or phone call to be
scheduled. By default the Create Activity form for a meeting will be
loaded, but if you would like to add a phone call instead, just click
the Log Call button to load its form. Enter the information about the
meeting or phone call and click Save.
SugarCRM’s Calendar module works together with activities entered throughout SugarCRM, including calls, meetings, and tasks. For more information about Activities and Calendar in SugarCRM, consider reading our eBook, Getting Started with SugarCRM 6.x.
